I’m Digging This Book

Enjoying this collection of memoir essays by Sarah Polley, Run Towards The Danger. Sarah Polley is a film director and actress around my age, been doing this since she was a teenager (and before!!)— I am loving her perspective on her past work as well as unremitting honesty and  acceptance of self. boop! Save to drafts.

Land of Sleep.

Land of Sleep from Ransom Riggs on Vimeo.

I live in a city that doesn’t sleep, but I grew up in a town that never wakes. I visit the strange, somnambulant place I used to call home, and examine the way my feelings about it have changed over the years.

Remembering Gian (1986 – 2016) VIDEO

Gian Molina
September 18, 1986 – December 20, 2016

Gian was my friend and teammate. Saying goodbye to him is hard. His service is tomorrow, and tonight we remember him with a show at iO WEST. Proceeds to go to his family.

Gianfest at iO West:

Most of the shows we did were spontaneous affairs, the nature of improv. Fleeting, no record. But I did get him in front of the camera as part of our Herzog series. He was fantastic, with much of his dialogue improvised over our script, which was always inferior to what he added. Here’s an edit of his scenes:

BABES – “Life Come Into Me” Music Video

I filmed this music video a while back, it was released via Stereogum last week. Directed by Sarah Hamblin for the fine LA band Babes (who are playing tonight at the Echo with my friends Hi Ho Silver Oh, incidentally).  You’ll first see me at around 00:50 getting off a motorcycle flanked by two delightful young male assistants, who may just be members of the band themselves. You’ll see more of me & a load of other talented male Angelenos throughout the clip (note: the video’s imagery may disturb the sensibilities of certain viewers, not least of which those of my wife). 🙂 A fun time with a lot of glitter. Thanks to Sarah and the band et al.
